Jake Negvesky spent the early part of his career as a transactional associate in the energy practice of a large law firm where he learned, fairly quickly, two things: first, that he genuinely enjoyed working with fellow lawyers, and second, that the part of his job he kept gravitating towards had very little to do with the deal on his desk. Instead, he found himself energized by the people behind the practice—the conversations, the connections, and most critically, the thrill that comes with giving advice that actually helps someone out.
To everyone else (or so Jake has been told), his pivot from big law to recruiting made perfect sense. He has always been the friend people call when they need help with their resumes, the one who wanted to know why an associate was thinking about a move, and the kind of person who would happily spend an hour on the phone helping a friend figure out what they want to do next. So when Karen and Katy came knocking with the chance for Jake to join Risepoint, he didn't need much convincing.
Now, Jake gets to put all of that to work for lawyers navigating their own career transitions.
Ready to make your next move?
this is Jake
As a Make-A-Wish kid, thirteen-year-old Jake and his family spent ten days in Hawaii swimming with sea turtles, a trip he now views as a tragically missed opportunity to have lunch with the Chief Justice… or at least Guy Fieri.
While his friends were watching cartoons on Sunday mornings, Jake was busy watching the Food Network and creating his own chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Jake was born and raised in Scranton, Pennsylvania. (Yes, like The Office. No, there’s no Chili’s.)

His wife is a fellow Georgetown ‘Hoya Lawya’, but they actually met in college in Texas.
Together they have two rescue pups: Annie, a Beagle-Pit mix, and Walker, a very…very loud hound.

For me, nothing is more rewarding than guiding my friends and colleagues through career pivots and providing the clarity they need to make their next big move. There’s a particular fulfillment in being even a small part of someone else's “okay, now what?” moment and being able to point them toward an answer.
WHY ARE YOU A RECRUITER?
I would make it so I wasn’t allergic to peanuts and cilantro didn’t taste like soap. Two small edits for infinite menu unlocks.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wake up fully rested—no alarm, no snooze, no negotiating with my future self—with an oversized Americano (no sugar, dash of half-and-half) already on my nightstand. My wife and I head to Great Falls with the pups, where, against all odds and overwhelming prior evidence, they both actually listen off leash. We come home to french toast and omelettes, and I spend a perfectly 68-degree afternoon puttering about in my garden with my tomatoes. Dinner is at that one Italian spot on the corner that makes its pasta from scratch, and I cap the night by binging a sci-fi show with a glass of good bourbon.
