Katy Robinette is a connector and people person, a self-proclaimed wanderer through the garden of law. She’s held a number of legal jobs including litigating on behalf of private clients at a boutique firm, providing advice and counsel to leadership offices of the D.C. Attorney General and the U.S. Department of Justice, and working in two different federal agencies.
She is a former law clerk to the Honorable Judge Roger L. Gregory of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, a graduate of the UC Berkeley School of Law and Vassar College, and a former doctoral student in political science at UCLA..
When Karen approached Katy with the idea to join Risepoint to launch her recruiting career, Katy couldn’t have jumped at the opportunity any faster or higher. Katy knew that marrying her two favorite things— connecting people and the practice of law — meant that being a recruiter would come naturally to her. And from what we’ve seen so far, she was 100% correct.

this is KATY
Her favorite job ever was slinging apples for an orchard in Dutchess County, New York.
As a junior tennis phenom, she holds a 1-0 lifetime record against Maria Sharapova.
She was born and raised in southeast Arkansas and has strong opinions about biscuits and cornbread.

Her worst job was teaching tennis to ornery children and their parents at a resort in coastal Georgia.

One reason I’ve moved around so liberally is because I love getting to know a new environment: how it works, what its needs are, what’s working well, and where there are areas for growth. I love meeting new people, learning about them and from them, and, whenever I can, making a thoughtful connection.
WHY ARE YOU A RECRUITER?
I wish I made children who slept in.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wake up, miraculously well rested, to sunlight pouring through the window rather than a feral child jumping on me. A perfectly balanced, piping hot latte appears before me, and I laze about until I’m caffeinated enough to hit the gym.
After a heavy lift sesh, I head to brunch in Santa Fe (because the space-time continuum is flexible on perfect days) for huevos rancheros. Then, I digest Caribbean beachside with the newest Jennifer Egan novel until I’m energized for some tennis and cool down with a long, luxurious massage.
I then pop to a quaint village in the mid-Hudson Valley, where everything I want is on sale and a lovely, unpretentious restaurant is right on the corner for an excellent meal with wine pairing and, like Karen, am back in bed before 10:00 pm.
